Hello, how you doing? Welcome to the all singing and dancing Ginger Monkey website.

The Ginger Monkey is a brand new hostel, recently opened in the beautiful mountain town of Zdiar, Slovakia. Zdiar is slightly off the beaten track just 20 minutes from the Slovak / Polish border. We have awesome jaw-dropping views of the High Tatras Mountains from every window and if that isn’t enough check out all this free stuff.

The Ginger Monkey Hostel is in a perfect location as it links up Krakow with Bratislava, Vienna, Budapest and Prague. Krakow is just a couple of hours away by bus. If you would prefer a lift from Krakow we can make an arrangement for you to be picked up from your hostel. The driver requires minimum of 2 people and the cost is €15 per person. The other cities are all directly connected by train from Poprad, which is our nearest station only 30 minutes away by bus.

The Ginger Monkey is the perfect mountain retreat. With stunning views and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, it’s the ideal place to unwind. There are however, plenty of activities available. We are on the doorstep of some of the most affordable ski resorts in Europe. Skiers and snowboarders of all abilities will enjoy the diverse mountain runs. When the snow disappears the area becomes a haven for trekkers, with hundreds of miles of routes taking you all over the mountains. You can raft along the Danajac, ride horseback through the forests or mountain-bike along the Zdiar valley trails.

If that sounds too much like hard work, don’t worry. Simply sit back on the deck and enjoy the magnificent scenery.
